A little slice of home

It can be quite hard to find a nice little coffee shop in Rennes that you can spend you afternoon in and maybe have a snack as most restaurants are only open 12-2pm for lunch and then the bars only do drinks. We found a little gem with this salon de thé called ‘Apple Pie’. It is actually owned by an Irish lady who is from not that far away from where I live (small world) so it was great to have a chat with her as she is so nice and was giving us places to go in Rennes and was just generally really friendly. Apple Pie is like a restaurant/café as they do a lunch/brunch menu and then for the rest of the day they have a wide selection of teas and hot chocolate , along with scones and cakes. Everything is sourced locally and you can know exactly where the cream or fruit came from for the jam and cream on your scone.

We decided to go on a Saturday afternoon after doing some Christmas shopping and it was lovely. We had gingerbread hot chocolates from their Christmas drink menu and scones with jam and cream of course. It was lovely to have a little slice of home with scones and just relax for the afternoon. The décor is lovely with little wooden tables, floral table cloths and of course a shelf filled with tea pots. I think we spent around 3 hours just chatting amongst ourselves and also to the owner about what we were doing in Rennes and just anything really.

It was a gorgeous afternoon with gorgeous food and I have no doubt that we will be returning to this little slice of home in Rennes.
